Over a hundred of short-film lovers flocked to Fairfield School of Arts, the home of PYT, to view a battle of the 10 finalist films. The biggest short film festival for young people in Western Sydney ever, ShortCuts 2010 also attracted a panel of highly respected judges: Karen Pearlman (Head of Screen Studies at AFTRS), Luke Eve (Director/Producer), Kris Wyld (Creator and Producer of East West 101) and Veronica Gleeson (Notable Script Writer and Development Manager at Screen Australia). A huge congratulations goes out to Ali Kadhim for his short film MOHAMMAD taking out the International Film School Best Film Award with a thousand dollars cash and a stack of prizes! A previous entrant and finalist, Ali's parkour documentary won the judges' praises and became the shining star of the night. (Please see attached list for the winners and prizes) "ShortCuts'10 was a success, not only giving chances for engaging filmmakers to present their work but also created opportunities for them." said Tresa Ponnor, Festival Director for ShortCuts'10 . Some of the finalists get contacted by the industry filmmakers on the night for auditions. If you are looking to be involved in Western Sydney's only film festival for young people and have the opportunity to get your work seen by professional filmmakers, submit your original short film for ShortCuts'11. Guidelines will be available later this year on http://shortcuts.pyt.com.au .
