The Ensemble is a FREE, four-month program of weekly workshops offering training for the stage. Sessions focus on improvisation, writing, performing and creating original work for the stage. Participants meet and collaborate with other young creatives from Western Sydney while building skills and connections to the wider performance industry.

PYT Fairfield is the only professional theatre company in Western Sydney dedicated to the development and engagement of local young and emerging artists. The company has created acclaimed work presented at Sydney Festival, Sydney Opera House, Belvoir St Theatre 25a and The Biennale of Sydney, and tours work nationally.

Ensemble members receive priority consideration for recruitment across PYT Fairfield’s busy roster of projects. In 2025, 80% of Ensemble members received paid work in the arts as a direct result of their participation, either with PYT Fairfield or through other arts organisations who regularly connect with us when seeking artists and staff.

The 2026 Ensemble will meet every Monday from 10am–1pm, commencing 23rd March and concluding 29th June 2026, with a break for school holidays. Ensemble members receive free access to PYT Fairfield’s theatre spaces, weekly workshops, masterclasses and mentorship opportunities, as well as free tickets to selected partner organisations. At the conclusion of the program, a select group of Ensemble members will be invited to join the prestigious 2026 PYT Company in the second half of the year, where they will be paid to create a new live performance work presented at PYT Fairfield. Company participants will also travel to an interstate festival to gain experience and insight from some of the industry’s most significant makers.
