2024 Artist-in-Residence EOI

PYT Fairfield’s Residency Program supports young and emerging artists from Western Sydney to create, continue or present a piece of original work for live performance. Residencies generally take the form of a week-long dedicated intensive block where the artist has use of PYT Fairfield’s theatre and culminates in a showing, presentation, or discussion at the end of the work in development. As well as space, PYT Fairfield provides producing, mentoring, financial support and profiling to the artist-in-residence. 

Residencies can be:

  • to develop an entirely new idea
  • a second residency to build upon previous residency
  • a presentation of a new work that has previously had a residency at PYT Fairfield 

Application criteria

1. Artist must live in Western Sydney

2. Groups can apply; however, the lead artist must live in Western Sydney

3. Artist must be between 18-28 years of age at the time of the application deadline or able to demonstrate why they are an emerging artist.

4. Residency days must be undertaken within these dates: 24-28th September 2024, 22-26th October 2024, 5-9th November 2024. (the amount of days you use can vary depending on your project)

4. PYT will provide a financial budget of $7,000. You will need to provide information in this application on how that will be spent. Artists (including yourself) must be paid as per the Live Performance Award. PYT Producers are able to provide in depth advice to all applicants on their budgets

Residencies are awarded via a competitive application process. To apply, you can either

    with “[YOUR NAME] EOI Residency Video Application”
  • Request an in-person meeting with a PYT Fairfield producer who will assist you in completing this form. (Please note, PYT Producer support requests close Tuesday 30 July to allow enough time for each applicant). Please email admin@pyt.com.au to schedule a time.
